Vigilant Hose Co. holds 126th annual awards banquet

Length of Service Awards were presented to Kris Hagemeyer, Karyn Myers, Lynn Orndorff, Cheryl Smith, Dave Smith, Jane Stoner, Dave Stonesifer and John Wantz for five years of service; to Paul Eyler and Ronnie Topper for 10 years of service; to Chad Umbel for 15 years of service; to Andy Eiker for 20 years of service; to Christopher Byard for 25 years of service; to Jim Click and Steve Orndorff for 30 years of service; to Gary Glass for 40 years of service; to Art Damuth for 55 years of service; and to Charles Stouter and Charles Hartdagen for 60 years of service.

The top firefighter responders for 2009 calls included Doug Orner with 136 calls; Gabe Baker with 147 calls; Vance Click with 152 calls; Dickie Cool with 174 calls; Steve Valentine with 182 calls; Frank Davis with 183 calls; Jason Powell with 211 calls; Paul Eyler with 212 calls; Randy Myers with 230 calls and Tony Kelly with 259 calls.

The top fire police responders for 2009 calls included John Hoyle with 76 calls; Jerry Orndorff with 93 calls; and Sam Cool with 233 calls.

The 2009 president's award was presented to Elyssa Cool, a Frederick Community College student and volunteer. The 2009 chief's award was presented to Clifton E. Shriner. The member of the year award was presented to Jim Click.

Two members were inducted into the VHC Hall of Fame, R. Wayne Powell and Robert A. Rosensteel Sr.
