State Police at Gettysburg closed both
directions of Route 15 in Freedom Township for more than
three hours Saturday to reconstruct a two-vehicle crash
that resulted in six injuries.
At 1:35 p.m., Courtney Lockwood of
Portsmouth, Va., was traveling north on Route 15 about one
mile south of Business Route 15 in Freedom Township when
she reached down to pick something up and lost control of
her Pontiac Montana, police said.
It traveled over the left shoulder
across the road to the right shoulder and then back across
the northbound lanes. The vehicle then traveled across the
median and onto the southbound lanes, police said
Then, police said a 2005 Honda CR-V
driven by Robert Michnowicz, of Fairfax, Va., struck the
Pontiac on the passenger side.
Lockwood's passengers, including
29-year-old Hollie Tyler and three children a 9-year-old
boy that was ejected from the car, a 6-year-old boy and a
4 year-old girl were all flown to Hershey Medical Center.
Lockwood was sent there by ambulance.
Tyler and Lockwood were in good condition Saturday night,
according to hospital officials.
Michnowicz was sent to Gettysburg
Hospital and discharged Saturday evening.
Police say all adults in the vehicle
were wearing seat belts but officers were unsure Saturday
weather the children were properly restrained.
